Getting started
- How do I sign up?
- Head to app.nubloom.co/register. The 14-day trial is free and you don't need a credit card. You can start charting the same day.
- Does it work on my phone?
- Yep. It runs in your browser, so it works on your phone, tablet, or laptop. Native iOS and Android apps are on the way, but the web app already works well on mobile, including offline.
- Can I bring my data from another system?
- We can help with that. Email [email protected] and we'll walk you through the migration.
- How long does it take to set up?
- Most providers are up and running the same day. Lactation billing codes, service presets, and charting templates are already loaded. Add your office hours, invite your team if you have one, and start seeing patients.
Offline mode and saved charts
- How does offline mode work?
- Save patient charts to your device before you head out. Write and edit visit notes without a connection, and everything syncs on its own when you're back online.
- Do charts save automatically before my appointments?
- Yes. If you have an appointment in the next 48 hours, NuBloom downloads that patient's full chart to your device. You don't have to remember. The chart clears from your device 24 hours after the appointment ends, unless you have another visit coming up with the same family.
- Can I turn off the auto-save?
- Yes. Each provider can toggle it on or off in settings. You can still manually save any patient from their profile when it's off.
- How many patients can I save offline?
- Up to 100 by default, configurable up to 500 per provider. Both manually saved and auto-saved patients count toward the limit.
- What if I remove an auto-saved patient?
- NuBloom won't auto-save them again for the same appointment. If they have a different appointment later, they'll be auto-saved again.
- What can I do offline vs. what needs a connection?
- You can chart, edit visit notes, and view saved patient records offline. Signing notes, sending messages, processing payments, and submitting claims all need a connection. When you're back online everything catches up on its own.
- Is offline data encrypted?
- Yes. Everything stored on your device is encrypted. A lost phone or laptop doesn't mean lost patient data.
Charting and clinical tools
- Is this lactation-specific or a generic EHR?
- Lactation-specific. LATCH and IBFAT scoring, jaundice assessment, PHQ-4 and EPDS mood screening, feeding plans, and ABM protocol snippets are all built in. No templates to build from scratch.
- Can I chart during the visit?
- Yes, and you should. NuBloom is built for charting in real time rather than writing things up afterward. Works on a tablet, laptop, or phone.
- Are visit notes signed and locked?
- Yes. Once you sign a note it's locked and immutable. If you need to make a change after signing, you add an addendum. The full version history is kept.
- Can I pull forward from a previous visit?
- Yes. When you start a new note you can pull forward relevant sections from the last visit so you're not retyping the same history every time.
- Is there a clinical reference library?
- Yes. Condition guides for tongue-tie, mastitis, low supply, jaundice, and more. Lab interpretation tables, decision trees, and galactagogue references. All searchable and available offline.
- Do parents see growth charts?
- Yes. The patient portal shows WHO growth charts: weight-for-age, length-for-age, head circumference, and weight-for-length with percentile calculations and preterm corrected age adjustments.
Scheduling and booking
- Can patients book their own appointments?
- Yes. Share your booking link and they pick a time from your real availability. Confirmation emails go out on their own.
- Does NuBloom send appointment reminders?
- Yes. SMS reminders go out automatically before appointments. You can configure the timing and the message.
- Can I block off personal time or vacations?
- Yes. Date blocks let you mark off days or time ranges so patients can't book during those windows.
- Do you support multiple locations?
- Yes. Set up as many locations as you need (office, home visits, hospital) and assign which providers work at which locations. Patients booking online only see time slots for the location they pick.
- How do virtual visits work?
- Paste your Zoom or Google Meet link when you create the appointment. The family gets a "Join Video Call" button in their confirmation email. No separate message needed.
Messaging
- Is messaging HIPAA compliant?
- Yes. Conversations are encrypted and tied to the patient record. Patients message through the portal, you reply from the app. No personal phone number needed.
- Can I flag a message as urgent?
- Yes. Flagged messages include a reason and surface at the top of your work queue so they don't get buried.
- What if a patient messages me outside office hours?
- You can set messaging boundaries with a timezone and auto-reply. When a message comes in outside your hours, the patient gets your auto-reply and you see it when you're back.
Patient portal
- What can patients do in the portal?
- View growth charts, message you, fill out intake and consent forms, see upcoming appointments, book new visits, and view and pay invoices. You control which sections are visible.
- Do patients need to download an app?
- No. The portal runs in their browser on any device.
- Can patients sign forms electronically?
- Yes. You can create document templates with signature fields. Families sign from the portal before or during the visit. You see who signed, when, and from where.
Billing and payments
- Can patients pay online?
- Yes. Connect your Stripe account and patients can pay invoices from the portal. You can also send a payment link over text or email.
- Does NuBloom generate superbills?
- Yes. Superbills pull CPT and ICD-10 codes straight from the visit. Download as PDF or send to the patient portal.
- Can I track insurance claims?
- Yes. Follow each claim from submission through payment or denial. If a claim is denied you can reopen it and resubmit. The work queue shows you what's pending so nothing gets lost.
- What billing codes are included?
- Lactation-specific ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes are preloaded. You don't need to look them up or enter them yourself.
Teams and intern tracking
- What roles can I assign?
- Owner, admin, provider, billing, readonly, and intern. Each role has different permissions so you can give people exactly the access they need.
- Can interns track their clinical hours?
- Yes. Interns can log clinical hours in NuBloom and supervisors can review and approve them. Hours are tied to visits so the record is connected to actual patient care.
- How does team billing work?
- Your subscription covers one provider. Each additional provider, admin, or intern is $39/month (or $33/month on annual billing). Billing and read-only team members are always free.
Security and compliance
- Is NuBloom HIPAA compliant?
- Yes. Encryption at rest and in transit, automatic session locking, audit logging, and a signed BAA with every account. Compliance is built in, not bolted on.
- How do I get a BAA?
- It's included with every account. You can review it on the Terms of Service page.
- What happens after 15 minutes of inactivity?
- Your session locks automatically. On mobile you can unlock with biometrics. This prevents someone from walking up to an unattended screen and seeing patient data.
- Does NuBloom use my data to train AI?
- No. Your data is used only to run the service. We don't use it for training models, marketing, or anything else.
Pricing and your account
- How much does NuBloom cost?
- $49/month per provider billed annually, or $59/month billed monthly. One plan, everything included. No tiers, no add-ons.
- Can I switch between monthly and annual?
- Yep. Switch from monthly to annual whenever you want and start saving right away. Going the other direction, the switch happens at the end of your billing cycle.
- What happens when my trial ends?
- You'll need to subscribe to keep using NuBloom. If you don't, your account is paused but your data is kept for a while so you can pick back up if you change your mind.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes. Cancel from your account settings. Your access continues through the end of the current billing period.
- Can I export my data if I leave?
- Yes. Email [email protected] and we'll send your data in standard formats (CSV, JSON, PDF) within 30 days.
